Abhisheka Suktas In Kannada_pdf

Sri Suktam is a vedic hymn addressed to Goddess Lakshmi, the companion of Vishnu.  She is the representative of abundance in all its forms, accessible to all and readily responsive the effects of yagyas when sincerely performed.

Significance of Sri Sukta :

The word Veda means knowledge, and the Vedas are considered the most sacred scripture of Hinduism referred to as sruti, meaning what was heard by or revealed to the Rishis or Seers. The most holy hymns and mantras put together into four collections called the Rig, Sama, Yajur, and Atharva Vedas.Rigveda is a Veda in form of Sukti's, which mean 'beautiful statements'.

A collection of very beautifully composed incantations itself is a Sukta. The Sukta is also synonymous to Richas. 'Rit' means - an incantation that contains praises and Veda means knowledge.Suktas are chanted in Vedic hymns (songs). They are in praise of different forms of the God/Goddess, which are known as “SUKTAMS”.Sri Suktam is one of the pancha suktas such as Purusha Suktam,Narayana Suktam,Sri Suktam,Bhu Suktam and Nila Suktam.
For the adoration of Lakshmi, there is no hymn equal to the Sri Sukta...The letters, syllables and words in the fifteen verses of Sri Sukta, collectively form the sound body of Lakshmi, the presiding deity of this Hymn. As it has come to us from the consciousness state of the Rishi (seer), the substance is Chit, the creative energy in Vaikhari or gross from of sound.
The universe is conceived and born of sound. Light is nothing but a sound of a particular frequency. All that we see in this worlds in solid, liquid, or gaseous state has emanated from sound. Even our mind is the crystal of sound. Nama (name) is sound from which rupa (form) has come. To cut it short, Sri Sukta is a Siddha Mantra and is a radiant mass of energy. By proper Sadhana, the jiva can raise itself to a divine status. But to attain this, it is very vital that the meaning of the Mantras are correctly understood, intoned and also remembered at the time of recitation.

The Sri Sukta of the Veda is recited with benefit especially on Fridays, together with formal worship of the Goddess, for peace, and all-round prosperity. Lakshmi, who is usually identified as the Spouse of Vishnu, or Narayana, represents the glory and magnificence of God. Narayana and Lakshmi, actually, stand for Being and Becoming. The Creator in all His glory manifests Himself in the variety in creation.

The meaning of Sri Suktam: Narayana and Lakshmi, says the Vishnu Purana, are like fire and heat, flower and fragrance, oil and greasiness, water and liquidity, sun and light, etc. And by such comparisons it is made out that the two are in fact One Being envisaged as twofold for meditation and worship. The Sri Sukta is the invocation of God Himself as the great glory of His creation, His lordliness, sovereignty and supreme suzerainty.Sri Suktam is a vedic sloka addressed to Goddess Lakshmi, the Goddess of Wealth, Prosperity and Fertility. The Sri suktam forms part of the khilanis or appendixes to the Rigveda. Goddess Lakshmi, the eternal consort of Lord Narayana has been referred as 'Sri' meaning the personification of auspicious and royal qualities. The supreme appears in the form of Vishnu to uphold and protect the world. The operation is done through the power of Vishnu for which the terminology is Lakshmi. She is the Brahman revealed in its mother aspect as creatrix and nourisher of the three worlds. Her description appears in the Shi Sukta, where she has been lauded in golden words and in glorious terms...Just as there is no difference between Power-Holder (Vishnu) and Power (Lakshmi)...She is the presiding deity of all divine manifestation
Lakshmi! You have progeny in Kardama. (Hence) O Kardama, may you reside in me. Make Mother Shri with garlands of lotuses to have Her abode in my (ancestral) line.May the (holy) waters create friendship (they being of an adhesive nature). O Chiklita (Progeny of Shri)! Reside at my home; and arrange to make Divine Mother Shri to stay in my lineage !

Here are the verses of Sri Suktam along with translated meaning.

The Greatness of Shrisuktam ..

||श्रीसूक्तमहत्म्यम् ||

These verses narrate the glory of Shri Suktam, the vedic hymn in praise of
Shri or Lakshmi Devi. They are in the form of a dialogue between Parashurama
and Pushkara, the son of Varuna and are from chapter 129 of Shri Vishnu
"DharmOttara purana". The English translation given after each verse is
not exact, but will convey the meaning of the verse.Shri is the bestower of all that is auspicious to her devotees.Generally she is said to grant wealth. But this limitation is in ourmind only. Really She can grant all wishes including moksha itself. The Shri Suktam thus is a prayer for not only wealth but all that is required for leading a dharmik  life and attaining her grace.
